Beloved Friends

The Jewish chuppah and wedding are a crossroads where
many of the questions, hopes and hardships
that lie at the foundation of Jewish existence meet:
commitment to tradition as against
the need for renewal and the founding of a new earth and new heavens;
the eternity of the covenant as against the transience of human existence;
abstinence and pleasure; freedom and home;
the strength of solitude as against
the abundance and blessing of family togetherness.

On these poles and the tension between them
Rabbi Shagar and Rabbi Yair Dreyfus delivered sermons
at the weddings of their children and students.
