Let Him Direct His Heart

This collection is the fruit of an experimental seminar entitled “Expanding the Temple Imagination”, a joint project of the Kedem Center and the journal Tzirufim Chadashim. The seminar explored the different ways in which the idea of the Temple can be encountered in our time – ways expressed in the essays presented here: some seek to return to the past and some call for moving forward; some aspire to a bounded, clearly defined Temple and some seek to widen its borders; some rise to theoretical reflection and some tell a very tangible story about the Temple around the corner.
Together these essays seek to challenge the accepted dichotomy between a lost past and a messianic future, and to open a space of thought in which the Temple is not only a historical memory or a political goal, but a living concept, continually reshaped within Jewish and Israeli history.
