Signposts

Rabbi Dr. Isaac Breuer zt"l (Frankfurt 1883 – Jerusalem 1946), grandson of Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch zt"l, was an original and important thinker.
This collection of his essays, “Signposts”, published here in a new edition with many additions and three introductory essays, presents the reader with the finest fruits of his thought.
Rabbi Breuer was a Torah scholar, jurist, philosopher, educator, sharp-penned polemicist, political leader (one of the founders of Agudat Yisrael) and a person of exceptionally broad learning. All of these facets of his special and impressive personality find expression here. His essays touch on fundamental questions that have lost none of their freshness, such as religious individualism, religion and science, Torah im Derech Eretz, the status of women, the attitude to nationalism, participation in the Zionist movement, and more.
